Special U.S. Rice "Own The Mistake" Yoga Mat Bags
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has admitted that although his intentions were to be helpful, he inadvertently destroyed the Haitian Rice industry by flooding Haiti with inexpensive rice from the U.S. during his administration.
Initially we avoided using recycled rice bags from the U.S. precisely because of this painful aspect of U.S. economic policy and its devastating impact on the Haitian economy and the Haitian rice industry in particular. But the more we thought about it, we decided to deliberately make a yoga mat bag available that is made out of these U.S. rice bags as a way of "owning our mistake" and actually buying back these bags that caused so much damage in Haiti. We also want to celebrate the fact that former president Clinton actually acknowledged this as a mistake and has expressed regret and remorse regarding this policy. It is refreshing to hear a president take responsibility for a policy that had devastating effects on vulnerable people. We celebrate that honesty and straightforwardness. Sometimes our actions have consequences that are unintended and that cause pain for others. When that happens, the best thing we can do is "own the mistake."
These bags are actually a 3rd size in our line. They are "medium sized" in that they are bigger than the original bags, but a bit smaller than the large bags. They feature all the improvements of the larger bag--reinforced hems, bottom, fabric strap, and pocket.
